Arklow Courthouse is an existing two storey building constructed and in use as a courthouse and offices prior to the introduction of the building control regulations. The existing ground floor contains a courtroom and ancillary areas such as garda room, judges room, consultation room etc. The existing first floor contains offices. The proposed works to the building relate to material alterations at ground and first floor levels. The proposed material alterations at ground floor level primarily relate to upgrading works required by the Court Service to provide additional consultation rooms and separate entrances for different service users. The proposed material alterations at first floor level primarily relate to the provisions of an additional escape stairs (existing spiral stairs being removed) and configuration of areas to be used for the lease of individual offices and desks.
