The proposed extension shall be designed and constructed in accordance with Part L of the Building Regulations – Conservation of Fuel and Energy. The works shall be assessed using DEAP methodology, where applicable, and shall ensure that the existing dwelling is not adversely affected in terms of energy performance. All new building elements including walls, roofs, floors, windows and doors shall achieve U-values equal to or better than the limiting values set out in Part L. Reasonable measures shall be taken to limit heat loss through air infiltration, thermal bridging and junction detailing. Heating, hot water and ventilation systems serving the extension shall be efficient, appropriately controlled and compatible with the existing dwelling. Energy-efficient fixed lighting shall be installed throughout the extension. The completed works shall comply fully with the requirements of Part L.
