What and where
Provision of
The development will consist of the provision of: a c. 7.03km underground cable operating at 220kV extending from Carrickmines 220kV Substation to Blackrock Park, situated beneath existing public roads and open green spaces; 11 no. associated underground joint bays primarily spaced c. 550-700m apart along the cable route; temporary construction compounds; and all associated development, including open cut trench excavation, trenchless crossing via horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and auger boring, and reinstatement of road surfaces and open spaces. A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) will be submitted to the planning authority with the application. Other elements of the Carrickmines to Poolbeg replacement project, including an offshore section from Blackrock Park to Shellybanks, and an onshore section from Shellybanks to Poolbeg, will be subject to their own AA Screenings and, where required, an NIS, to support separate future applications for development consent to the relevant consenting authorities. Notwithstanding this, the potential for in-combination effects arising from these other elements has been considered in the NIS.
