Development of lands
Planning permission is sought for the development of lands (c. 1.8HA) within the grounds of Merlin Park University Hospital. The Proposed development will comprise of a two storey, part single storey Community Nursing Unit/ residential care unit (c. 5,100 m² total Gross Floor Area (GFA)). The building comprises of 60 en-suite bedrooms, including a 10 bed dementia unit in the single storey block, with associated resident accommodation including dining rooms, residents areas, visitors room and family overnight room, treatment rooms, hairdresser's salon etc.; Internal courtyard and balcony spaces, back of house areas, staff accommodation and ancillary offices, demolition of existing buildings on site including a carpenter's workshop (280 m² GFA), storerooms (95 m² GFA) and vacant former nurses accommodation building (67 m² GFA) (total area of demolition 442 m² GFA) and construction of replacement carpenters workshop (286 m² GFA) and 4 no. storerooms (Total GFA of 103.5 m²). Permission is also sought for associated landscaping, services yard including waste marshalling area (49 m²) and ESB substation (15 m²), and all associated site and development works, including connection to existing water supply on Merlin Park Lane. The total GFA of the overall development is 5,553.5 m² GFA.
