the development will consist of refurbishment works to 36.3 kilometres (km) of OHL, comprising provision of fibre wrap; replacement of 4 no. steel towers; replacement of 127 no. pole-sets/poles; replacement of 6 no. pole-set cross arms only; refurbishment work to 3 no. steel towers and 19 no. wooden pole-sets; and the treatment and painting of 4 no. steel towers. These structures (No’s. 1-181) and the associated OHL lie between wherethe Blundelstown – Mullingar 110kV OHL commences at Structure 1 in the townland of Harlockstown and stretches to the border with County Westmeath in the townland of Carranstown Great, crossing the County Meath townlands of Harlockstown, Blackhall Big, Lynaghstown, Barstown, Kilclone, Collistown, Warrenstown, Jenkinstown, Mullagh, Kilmore, Knockstown, Moynalvy, Ballygortagh, Curraghdoo, Clonymeath, Derryclare, Clonmahon, Drumard, Ginnets Little, Dangan, Umberstown Little, Umberstown Great, Stokestown, Laracor, Summerstown, Newtownmoynagh, Carberrystown, Kennastown, Derrindaly, Bellewstown, Kilmurry, Woodtown (Abbott), Pubblestown, Portanab, Moyrath, Rathcormick, Rathkenna, Coolronan and Carranstown Great. The Proposed Development also includes 3 no. temporary Construction Compounds in the townlands of Barstown, Pubblestown and Rathkenna. The refurbishment works in County Meath will consist of: the replacement (‘restringing’) of the existing OHL circuit conductor wires with a new higher capacity conductor; the installation of fibre wrap; the replacement of 4 no. steel towers and 127 no. wooden pole-sets/poles with similar dimensions and heights as the existing (replacement towers will be no more than 0.5m taller than existing and replacement pole-sets/poles will be no more than 3m taller than existing); the installation of replacement parts on towers and pole-sets; foundation refurbishment strengthening and recapping / clearing of shear blocks; treatment and painting of towers to be retained; all associated site development works, including temporary works areas; vegetation maintenance works; ancillary site preparation works, site clearance and levelling at the 3 no. temporary Construction Compounds; temporary works to existing tracks and new temporary access routes to each structure; and all associated works required to facilitate the Proposed Development. A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) will be submitted to the Planning Authority with the application.
