Development Description
for development which will consist of waste recovery and restoration works at Teernacreeve Quarry. The application area will cover 5.1 hectares (‘ha’), of which a 1.2 ha void will be subject to infilling using suitably classified inert waste materials, 0.4 ha will be used as a waste processing area, and the balance of lands will comprise existing access routes, pond and undeveloped areas. Teernacreeve Restoration Company Limited will seek to import up to 24,500 tonnes per annum of C&D waste for reprocessing for use as a secondary product (from waste) in accordance with the National End of Waste Criteria for Recycled Aggregates (or equivalent) and for the purposes of restoration in the existing void. Following the restoration works, a calcareous grassland will be established, along with a series of small ponds to support local biodiversity. A planning permission for 20 years is being sought. A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) will be submitted to the planning authority with the application.
