Permission and Retention Permission the proposal will extend the existing hospital and clinic to provide an additional c.5,445 m² of clinical space. The single storey extensions will be located within the existing central courtyard and to the southern side of the existing hospital building. The proposed extensions will deliver a new catheter lab suite; an extension to the existing operating theatre department; staff changing facilities; a new emergency department; and an expanded intensive care unit. The proposal will also include the retention of an existing car parking area and provision of additional car parking, resulting in a total of 675 no. permanent car parking spaces, along with 76 no. temporary car parking spaces (for a period of 5 years). The proposal also includes 77 no. additional cycle parking spaces. New plant areas (c.1,570 m²) will also be provided at roof level above the proposed extension and beside the existing plant. The proposal will also include the provision of a new ESB substation and generator compound. The development will include landscaping and planting, reprofiling of the levels across the site, a new pedestrian route to the existing gate on the Lucan Road / N4 to provide additional access to the campus, revised vehicular layout across the site and all other associated works and services provision to enable the development.
