The proposed development will consist of a 10-year permission for the construction of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facility comprising of 80 containerised lithium-ion BESS units on skids, 20 MV Skids, a 220kV transformer compound including a 220kV transformer and associated fire wall, one single-storey Control Room Building (approximately 87 m² gross floor area) one single-storey MV Switchroom Building (approximately 87 m² gross floor area), an auxiliary transformer, grid equipment container (approximately 15 m² gross floor area), back-up diesel generator (approximately 15 m² gross floor area), associated outdoor electrical plant, underground cabling, internal access tracks, boundary fencing, CCTV, lighting, lightning masts, and all other associated site and development works. The proposed development will be co-located with a Synchronous Condenser facility permitted under Planning Ref: 25/6422 and will consist of minor modifications to the configuration of the permitted internal access tracks to accommodate both developments. All works will take place on lands at Glanagow and Corkbeg (Townlands), Whitegate, Co. Cork.
